What Does Rock Eat? (Part 1)

Oh, eating! How I love thee. From the earliest days of my life, I have delighted in the pleasures of the table. There is something so comforting and nourishing about the act of eating - it fills me up both physically and emotionally. It's a reminder that I am alive and that life can be good.


It's not just the pleasure of eating that I enjoy - it's also the sense of security it brings. Knowing that I have enough food to sustain me makes me feel safe and grounded. I don't like the feeling of not knowing where my next meal will come from - it creates a sense of unease that I find difficult to shake. In many ways, food has been a constant companion throughout my life. It has comforted me in times of sadness and celebrated with me in times of joy. And for that, I am forever grateful.


Food is more than just fuel for our bodies - it is a powerful tool for creating a healthy, vibrant life. For me, making meal planning simple and focusing on whole, nutrient-dense foods has been key to feeling my best. I love to incorporate plenty of colorful vegetables into my meals, as they provide a wide range of macro and micronutrients that support optimal health. From leafy greens to bright bell peppers and everything in between, these vibrant foods are like medicine for the body and soul.


In addition to vegetables, I make sure to include enough protein to sustain my strength and energy levels. Whether it's from plant-based sources like beans and lentils or animal products like chicken or fish, protein is essential for repairing tissues, building muscle, and supporting healthy immune function. Carbohydrates are also an important part of my diet, as they provide the energy I need to power through my day. But not all carbs are created equal - I opt for whole grains like brown rice and quinoa, which provide slow-burning energy and are packed with nutrients. And let's not forget about fats! For years, we were taught to fear dietary fat, but we now know that healthy fats are essential for a thriving body and mind. I love to incorporate foods like avocado, nuts, and olive oil into my meals to nourish my brain, joints, and nervous system.


By looking at food as a lifeline and an act of self-love, I have been able to create a positive relationship with what I eat and experience the many benefits of a healthy diet. And when I do indulge in something less healthy, I don't beat myself up about it - I simply enjoy it and move on. Because at the end of the day, what we put into our bodies becomes a part of who we are, and I want to be someone who is vibrant, energized, and full of vitality.


I want to play every day.
