Diving in Monterey Bay demands more than gear and certification. Cold water, rocky shore entries, surge, and currents test your strength, endurance, and composure. Carrying 40-60 pounds of gear over slippery rocks, finning against current, and managing air consumption all benefit from targeted fitness.
Dive-specific training improves breath-hold capacity, core stability for trim control, leg power for finning, and equalization strength. A conditioning program can cut air consumption, extend bottom time, and reduce injury risk on shore entries. Train on land so you can perform in the water.
